Brilliant, enigmatic, eccentric, talented, contradictory, decisive, spirited, extravagant, visionary: Each of these words and many others Zora Neale Hurston in our time and in her own time. has been used to describe Comprised of four novels, two folklore books, an autobiography, numerous short stories and essays, and several plays, Hurston's canon is an impressive body of work in many respects. But Hurston is more than a respected author and personality: She's a phenomenon. In 2008, Zora Neil Her Hurston Her Festival celebrated her 20th anniversary in her hometown of Eatonville, Florida. Founded in 1990 under the direction of author Marita Golden, the Hurston/Wright Foundation offers awards, workshops, grants, and many opportunities to encourage the recognition and development of African-American writers. I keep doing it. Fort Pierce, Florida, where Hurston died, hosts an annual Zorafest to celebrate her life and work, and recently launched a Heritage Trail in her honor. In 2003, the United States Postal Service issued a postage stamp to Zora Her Neil Her Hurston. In 2004, Bernard Hurston, who graduated in 1928 from her college, established the Zora Neil Her Hurston Scholarship, with the aim of promoting her racial and ethnic diversity. In addition to all these activities, Oprah Winfrey chose 'Their Eyes Were Watching God' as one of her book club choices and made a film based on this novel in 2005.
